In the now-trending clip, the interviewer lists her impressive real estate holdings — “You have a commercial complex in Hyderabad, you have a bungalow.” Tabu bursts into laughter and quips, “This is coming from my aunt, I’m sure! That insight only she gives people — Tabu toh landlord hai!”
The actress then reveals that she personally manages multiple properties and enjoys this lesser-known side of her life.
The Real Estate Advice That Changed Her Life
Tabu credits her smart property investments to a piece of advice she received early in her career from filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao, who directed her debut film Coolie No. 1.
“He told me, ‘Promise me that you’ll do whatever films you want for your creative satisfaction, but first buy a plot here, make a home, invest wisely, and never discuss money with anyone.’”
Tabu says she took that advice to heart. Soon after, she bought land in Hyderabad, built her own home, and later invested in commercial spaces across the city.
A Bungalow in Jubilee Hills & A Heart in Hyderabad
Today, Tabu owns a luxurious bungalow in Jubilee Hills, one of Hyderabad’s most elite neighborhoods. She reportedly purchased the property in the 2000s and has expanded her portfolio since.
Her connection to Hyderabad runs deep — she spent her childhood and teenage years there, growing up with her maternal grandparents in Mallepally and attending St. Ann’s High School in Vijayanagar Colony.
Even after years in Mumbai’s film industry, Tabu often speaks fondly of Hyderabad and calls it her “soul city.”
